The Week 7 lecture focused on Stuff : Markets  & Manufacturing.

We looked at the "fordist assembly line" as a metaphor which describes the 20th Century's rapid transformation in offices and homes. Massive social change. Tried to perfect timetables. Post-fordism tried to obliterate time through 24hr work globally. Flexible, mobile self-policing.

"Fordist assembly line"

Mass production for mass population needed to exterminate "thriftiness" in consumers. Now days - Modern-day marketing strategies - stalking of consumer habits. (Ref 4 Corners show)
From Customer (regular sustained relationship with supplier) to Consumer (abstract anonymous/ anonymous association)

Artistic responses - Another brick in the wall - Pink Floyd. Charlie Chaplin's comical black/white social comment silent films.
